Gushing waterfalls, thundering ice falling from glaciers and the idyllic sound of cow bells all the background sounds accompanying you on a walk in the Grosse Schiedegg area. They set the scene for a fabulous and impressive landscape in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Impressively high mountains, rugged limestone rocks, fissured glaciers and roaring waterfalls stand in stark contrast to the colourful, flower-filled meadows, green forests and delightful countryside. The Alpine Aviary, the historic sawmill on Schwarzwaldalp, the wildly romantic Rosenlaui glacier gorge and the Reichenbach falls with the Sherlock Holmes Memorial are some of the special attractions in the area.
